Medical Laboratory Assistant

Students learn to collect and analyze laboratory specimens, operate specialized equipment, and perform clinical laboratory procedures that support disease diagnosis. The program covers anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, specimen processing, laboratory safety, and professional healthcare practices. Building on foundational specimen collection skills, students gain hands-on experience with laboratory procedures and documentation while preparing for medical laboratory certification and entry-level employment in clinical laboratory settings. 

If students complete both the Phlebotomy and Medical Lab Assisant programs at the RDP, they will be awarded two short-term certificates from Calhoun.
